Sylhet

Sylhet, the northeastern part of Bangladesh, is bordered by the Meghalaya, Assam and Tripura states of India to the north, east and south, respectively; and by Bangladeshi divisions Chittagong to the southwest and Dhaka to the west. Sylhet is known as spiritual town and one of the most picturesque regions in South Asia. Sylhet division is divided by four districts and they are Sylhet, Maulivibazar, Sunamgonj and Habiganj. This holy place is welcoming all citizens around the world to imbibe its soothing green magnificence.
Sylhet has a very interesting and rich history. It was ruled by local chieftain, before the conquest by the Muslims. In 1303, the great Saint Hazrat Shah Jalal came to Sylhet from Yemen with a band of 360 Islamic scholars’ to preach Islam and defeated then Raja Gour Gobinda, Sylhet thus became a district of saints, shrines and daring but virile people.
