Mind refreshing Ratargul Swamp Forest
Ratargul Swamp Forest is a forest which is flooded with fresh water, located at Goainghat sub district in Sylhet. It is the only swamp forest found in Bangladesh and one of the rare freshwater swamp forests in the world. This forest is naturally conserved by the Govt. of Bangladesh although one may hardly find any protector there.
The evergreen forest is situated by the river Goain and connected with the cannel chenger Khal. Chenger Khal is famous for local fish. Koroch tree mostly grew here. In the rains forest flourish with water whereas in winter water deteriorate even one can walk through forest. It’s the habitat of different snakes, monkeys, lizards, insects & birds. Sometime snakes may move toward your boat so you need to be careful. Small boat is better to go through narrow spaces of the forest. You might get the flavor of Amazon forest here though this forest is locally known as Mini Shundorbon.
